Welcome teachers!

The MotorCities National Heritage Area is driving the importance of auto and labor heritage into schools throughout the Heritage Area! We are pleased to provide to our Participating Schools our brand new K-12 MEAP aligned curriculum, filled with information about our rich auto and labor heritage.

Through these lesson plans, you and your students will learn about such topics as Michigan's vital role in the Arsenal of Democracy, the changing roles of women and minorities in the auto industry, the role of the UAW in providing fair working conditions for workers, the auto plants role in inspiring Diego Rivera to create his famous murals and much, much more.

So come with us on a journey into the past the will give your students a new understanding and appreciation of Michigan's role in putting the world on wheels as well as the roles that perhaps their own families, neighbors and communities have played in making the auto and labor industries what they are today. These lessons may even peek your student's interest in pursuing a career within the auto or labor industries one day!

Enjoy, and please let us know how your students respond to our lessons!
